What if the man you loved was the man you should fear most?
Callie Borden has the perfect life. A successful literary agent, she’s engaged to be married to a man who isn’t intimidated by her success. The only problem is, she’s miserable.
Her fiancé is dull as cardboard and emotionally detached. He also has a wandering eye. Her job forces her to walk a careful line with her most successful publisher, an ultraconservative man who dislikes negotiating with women. Her intimate life is unfulfilling. She is too busy for much of a social life.
She longs for adventure...and is plagued by memories of the man that got away.
So when her high school boyfriend, Bryan Blake, shows back up in her life as a breakout writer looking for new representation, a desperate Callie couldn’t be happier.
Their working relationship quickly blooms into a torrid affair that leaves Callie guilt-ridden and full of doubts. And when strange coincidences and incidents occur to send her life into turmoil, she realizes it’s all too convenient—and bizarre.
Something isn’t right, but to uncover the truth, Callie will have to delve into the dark past, where secrets have been buried for a reason and bringing them into the light of day could cost her everything.
Scandal Next Door – the chilling psychological thriller by the best-selling author of The Stepfather and The Scorned Wife.

Special excerpt:
Callie’s fingers hovered over her phone, her breathing uneven as the faint sounds of New York’s cityscape filtered through her apartment window. Her heart pounded, each thump louder than the last, drowning out her attempts to think.
The text she’d received just moments ago was still there on the screen, glowing like a warning: "Meet me at the corner of 72nd and Fifth. Midnight. Alone. If you care about what happens next."
She wanted to delete it, to pretend it hadn’t appeared, but the weight of the words pinned her in place. The number was unrecognizable, but the undertone was chillingly familiar. Bryan. His face flashed in her mind—the boyish grin from years ago now distorted by the cold, unrelenting man he’d become.
“Why now?” she whispered, her voice barely audible over the growing hum of traffic below. She glanced at the engagement ring glinting on her finger, the symbol of a life she thought she’d secured. But Bryan wasn’t just a ghost from her past. He was the unfinished chapter she never wanted to reopen.
A knock at the door jolted her from her thoughts. It was rapid, insistent—different from Norris’s usual soft raps. She approached hesitantly, her bare feet silent on the polished hardwood floor.
“Who is it?” she asked, her voice steady despite the storm raging inside her.
No answer. Just another knock, heavier this time.
Her pulse quickened.
“Callie,” came the voice from the other side of the door—low, almost coaxing. “Open up. You and I have some catching up to do.”
Her stomach turned. It wasn’t Norris. It wasn’t Bryan either.
She backed away, her eyes darting to the chain lock, her phone still gripped tightly in her hand. The text remained on the screen, its demand unshaken. She had minutes to decide—open the door to the unknown or meet Bryan at midnight and face the devil she knew.
